Victor Osimhen, the renowned Nigerian Super Eagles forward and SSC Napoli legend, has been recognized as the most valuable African footballer globally.
According to the esteemed CIES Football Observatory, Osimhen has secured a spot among the top 100 most valuable footballers worldwide.
The CIES report unveils a comprehensive statistical model developed exclusively by them to compile the list. Osimhen, who played a pivotal role in leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years, was valued at €77.3 million. This assessment places the 24-year-old talent at the 40th position globally and the highest-ranked African player in the top 100.
Notably, Osimhen’s valuation surpasses that of Mohamed Salah, the illustrious Liverpool and Egypt superstar, whose value stands at €61.2 million. The list also features two other Africans: Achraf Hakimi from Morocco, valued at €53.7 million, and Mohammed Kudus from Ghana, valued at €53.5 million.
In another development, Erling Haaland, the talented Manchester City player, has emerged as the world’s most valuable footballer based on transfer values. Haaland, who played a significant role in his club’s domestic success in England, is estimated to be worth €245.5 million. The 22-year-old outshines competitors such as Vinicius Junior, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo Goes, who make up the top five most valuable footballers globally.
